| 2 CommentsIf you are from or familiar with Boston, or simply are a fan of boxing, chances are you know the name “Irish” Micky Ward.
Ward is a famed lightweight boxer from Lowell, Massachusetts, and is best know perhaps for his furious three fight series against Arturo Gatti.
If you have no clue what I’m talking about, kindly watch the video below:
All caught up?
Good.
Well now Ward’s legacy is being immortalized in the upcoming Warner Brother’s biopic called The Fighter.
The film, which chronicles Wards rise to glory, parries Ward’s success with the subsequent downfall of his half-brother/trainer Dicky Ecklund, a fellow former boxer who develops an addiction to crack.
Area native Mark Wahlberg stars as Ward, and actor Christian Bale stars as Ecklund.
Last night, Walhberg was over at the Lexington Flick Theater in Lowell shooting some scenes for the film, and apparently stayed well into the night.
Filming for The Fighter is scheduled to finish up in Boston on August 26th.
The film won’t be out until 2011.
