July 4th Host Michael Chiklis Sings Too

Hometown boy Michael Chiklis to host July 4th on the CharlesWhether you are a long time fan of Michael Chiklis or just jumped on the bandwagon you may not realize that he also sings.  Chiklis who was born in Lowell and grew up in Andover is hosting this year’s 2011 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.  He is also scheduled to sing, yes sing.  He recently formed a band call the Michael Chiklis Band or MCB for short which is hoping to release an album some time soon.  He will be singing a song which is a tribute to the troops in Afghanistan called ‘Til I Come Home”.

That alone might pull you to the traditional July 4th activities in and around the Esplanade on the Charles River but Martina McBride is also scheduled to perform after Lionel Richie had to back out last minute due to illness.  Born and raised in Boston the Pops on the 4th has been a great event that I have attended in the past.  This year it is still on the list of possibles but with kids planning is definitely key to making the most of the event.  The official event website offers  information on planning your day which include a map and a program. This year you will be able to catch some of the event live from 8 to 11pm on WBZ Channel 4 the CBS station that won the airing rights for this year’s 38th celebration.

If you don’t get a chance to catch him live here is the Michael Chiklis Band performing the song he plans to sing on Monday.  It is a fitting tribute for Independence Day:
