Whether you’re inked yourself, looking for some derma deco, or just admire the body art of others, the 8th Annual Boston Tattoo Convention is a spectacle you simply do not want to miss out on. Taking place October 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the Boston Center for the Arts, this year’s convention promises more than 100 tattoo artists and vendors and anticipates more than 5000 attendees over the three days.
Event highlights include a welcoming night performance on October 2nd at 6pm by Black Cat Burlesque, followed by the Skyline Cirque Aerial Performers at 7pm and the Lucky Daredevil Thrille Show at 930pm.
Saturday at 1230pm, a BTC Slideshow will be presented on stage, alongside Art Fusion. And, Sunday, October 4th art education includes a Dan Henk Oil Painting Seminar from noon to 3pm and a Ryan Ouellette Piercing Seminar from 2pm to 330pm.
A Tattoo of the Day contest will also be held daily and awarded nightly. So if you are thinking of inking up this weekend, you just might be awarded a price for doing so. And, even if you do not win, Sailor Jerry Rum will be giving away prizes multiple times each day too.
Other tattoo prize categories include small, medium and large tatts (both color and black-n-gray), best cover up, overall (male and female), back, flash, fine art piece and worst tattoo. Let’s hope that tattoo of regret is prize worthy… and, for the sake of all attending, is not awarded to some fresh ink done at the show.
Tickets will run you $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Pick up tickets for all 3 days for $45 in advance, $55 at the door. Or, go the VIP route, which includes a tshirt and a poster, for $55 in advance or $70 at the door.
And for those that may wrongly assume that tattoo-laden folks are loners that care only of themselves, you may duly note that a portion of the proceeds from the three day event will benefit Autism Speaks.
