Last night the boyfriend and I ate dinner at Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain. This cozy, intimate restaurant (it actually has eleven tables) has been on our to do list for awhile, but we don’t often get to JP for dinner. Well, it was definitely worth the drive. Service was polite and attentive. In fact, when I stepped away to the lady’s room, the waiter asked my boyfriend if we were celebrating a birthday or anniversary.
But the food is the real reason to go. It’s a small menu filled with local produce and fresh seasonal ingredients prepared to perfection. I ordered the four course vegetarian tasting menu, which at $28, is one of the best values I’ve seen. Each course was small so I didn’t feel stuffed at the end of the night. The dessert, a simple but sublime angel food cake with three different sauces for topping, was a sweet complement to the more savory dishes (and though my boyfriend is decidedly not a vegetarian, he made an exception for dessert).
As any of my friends will tell you, I’m a sucker for outdoor dining. There’s just something so enticing about the idea of sitting outside while dining al fresco and people-watching along Newbury Street or …
