Boston Buzzing on Mother’s Day Weekend

Old Town Trolley BostonMy family and I played tourists in Boston this weekend in celebration of my Mother’s Day Activities.  I hadn’t noticed so many things happening at the same time each year but it seemed like with a Trolley Tour Guide giving me the scoop we had so many options at our disposal.

We started Sunday morning at the CheeseCake Factory in the Prudential Center for Mother’s Day Brunch.  This has become an annual tradition though there are many options on where to have Mother’s Day Brunch in the Boston area.  The tough part is making sure you either have reservations or you don’t need them.  For Mother’s Day The Cheesecake Factory doesn’t accept reservations but if you get there early enough you usually don’t have a problem.

Afterward we boarded the Old Town Trolley in front of the Sheraton which was en route on it’s official tour through the streets of Boston.  Sprinkled with plenty of history and humor the driver took us past many of the city’s tourist spots which have tours of their own.  For example, we could have had a tour of Fenway Park if we got off on that stop.  We could also visit museums in the Cambridge MIT area if we chose too.  Yesterday we were just in it for the ride, especially since it was cold and windy for a May Sunday afternoon.

As we were brought into Charlestown the guide reminded us of the activities going on for the tail end of Marine Week and the Navy Shipyard which houses the USS Constitution.  We also were reminded of the Make Way for Ducklings Parade activities that were taking place at the Boston Gardens when we drove past that as well.  Never mind that the Celtics were getting ready to play the Cleveland Cavaliers as we past by the TD Garden which houses a Sports Museum.  We ended the day browsing the shops at the Prudential Center.

I would like to think that all of these Boston activities were just for me on my Mother’s Day but the truth is that Boston is hopping and buzzing all year round.  Whether you are a tourist from out of town or a staycationer looking for things to do you won’t run out of options here in Boston.
