Ice Cream for a Good Cause at Boston City Hall

girl and puppy eating ice creamNothing beats some good ice cream on a hot day but it tastes even sweeter for a good cause.  The Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl is taking place today through this Thursday June 10, 2010 on Boston’s City Hall Plaza.

It’s hard to believe that this annual event is in it’s 28th year.  It started out much smaller than it is now as “The Ice Cream Fundraiser” at the New England Dairy Festival.  FedEx is this year’s presenter.  The ice cream(sorbet, frozen yogurt and gelato too) available is supplied by:  Baskin-Robbins, Ben & Jerry’s, Breyer’s, Ciao Bella Gelato, Brighams, Edy’s, Garelick Farms/Gifford’s, Haagen-Dazs and HP Hood.

To get more on the flavors that are available check the official Scooper Bowl page on the Jimmy Fund’s website.

Tickets range from $4 to $8 dollars and kids under 3 are free.  The event takes place from 12 noon until 8pm so there should be time to stop by during the 3 days of the event.  I don’t work in town so I think my family will have to go in either tomorrow or Thursday evening.  If you are able to stop in every day they have a $15 ticket option.

The Jimmy Fund is a great cause so whether you can make it into the event or not you can still support them by visiting their website.  The proceeds from the Scooper Bowl support cancer care and cancer research for not only children but adults as well at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
