Boston’s mayoral race is quickly approaching, and the first official exchange between candidates is slated to kick off the campaign season in a televised debate later this Wednesday.

Boston currently has four prospective candidates, with incumbent Mayor Thomas Menino seeking to be re-elected to a record fifth term (he was first elected to office back in 1993).

Menino faces three challengers from both the private and public sectors, competing against businessman Kevin McCrea and city councilors Michael Flaherty and Sam Yoon.

The prospective city managers will slug it out over at WBZ-TV News in Allston (Channel 4) starting at 7 PM. The debate will be moderated by political journalist Jon Keller.
